Jack Rowley Judo Champion.

My name is Jack Rowley, I’m a year 8 student at Tamworth Enterprise College.

I started Judo at five years of age at Mercia Judokwai in Tamworth. I now complete four one and a half hour Judo training sessions a week, four fitness sessions and one hill sprint session every week. I compete about three times each month.

I’m sponsored by Essimo UK who provide all of my Judo Suits and equipment.

Every Wednesday night I train at the British Judo Centre of Excellence in Walsall, this is where current and future Olympians train and prepare for major Judo Competitions around the world. I’m lucky that I regularly take part in these training sessions with the country’s top Judokas. These sessions can only be attended if you are invited by the Excel coaches at the centre.

I’m currently the British Judo Council National Champion in the Boys U46Kg category U13 Years old. I also hold a number of regional titles too.

I train 6 times a year with the Team BJC Squad where you can be selected to fight internationally for Team BJC Great Britain Judo Squad. On the four occasions I have been selected I have secured Gold, Silver and Bronze medals plus a 4th Place.

I have also won two British Judo Council National Awards which is voted for by Senior Judokas around the country.

I’m lucky that I can attend Training Courses all over the country where the lead coaches are former World Champions and or Olympians. I get a lot of advice from my good friend double silver Olympic medallist, Neil Adams (pictured) and his wife Nikki Adams (Canadian Olympian).

My dream is to stay fit and healthy and one day be able to represent my country at the Olympics.

I would like to thank my coach Sensei Nick Holmes, my sponsor Essimo UK (Sensei Alan Carlisle) and my Dad for taking me to all the venues and my Mum & Dad for funding my passion.
